Training Programs

Community Journalism

The goal for the project materialized out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Community members across rural Oregon and Washington are trained to become a part of creating news sources, and spread vital information to their communities. Throughout the training Spanish-speaking participants learn and practice the methods of disseminating information to their local communities.

You can watch program graduates on Voces del Noroeste every Tuesday, and Thursday at 6:30 PM on FacebookLive

Civic Engagement-to-Action Trainings

Our goal is to engage the Latino community in important local-level decisions that impact quality of life in the Columbia Gorge. The first step is to engage Latino community members and offer tools so they can advocate for themselves. Training will detail to participants the various forms of civic engagement and couple action items in their cities or counties.

Leadership Development

Beginner level leadership training in our local Latino community is vital for residents to feel equipped to participate and share their ideas. Courses will include teaching participants to identify community assets, group management, manage meetings and conflict, and balancing discussion and action.

Mentor Network

Our volunteers want to launch a mentorship program between local officials and Latinos interested in gaining greater insight to local level leadership.

The program creates networks and opportunities to be involved and create familiarity with political frameworks and board responsibilities.

Specialization course for Community Organizers

Training course for people who are already developing as community organizers, work in social service or who want to increase their knowledge in these areas mentioned. The course will focus on comprehensive socio-political analysis, which will ensure that attendees appropriate the knowledge established in the program and develop some technical and cultural skills and competencies aimed at the analysis and interpretation of the social and political reality that is lived all over the world and, especially, in Mexico.
